I have decided not to be a fat and calorie nazi, but I will just keep eating healthy, which I already have been doing, but I have horrible cravings for sugar and chocolate. That combined with the lack of exercise has added on the pounds at an alarming rate.
For breakfast I had two eggs and by that I mean the whole thing! I grew up in the country where you knew that chicken worked hard to give you that egg and unless you were planning on making a lemon meringue pie, you better eat the whole darn egg! But I digress...
I also had two pieces of wheat toast with a pat of Real butter split between the two and about a tablespoon of pear preserves on each. Here's where I have another rant. Real butter is not bad for you, as long as you moderate, just like anything else! You should look at the ingredients on the back of a container of the artificial butter replacements. Most or all of them have at least 10 or more ingredients in them. Ya know what butter has in it? Sweet cream and salt. I figure the less artificial ingredients, the better it is. Okay, back to my first day on the road to weight loss.
I took sawyer and we went to the park and I did 10 minutes of jump rope. 60/30 intervals of jumping as fast as I can and then resting. What I learned from this new workout is that I have to be the most idiotic looking person ever to jump a rope. I think the longest time I went without tripping up was 30 seconds and that's pushing it!
After that I did something I'm a little more adept at...walking! I did that for a mile. All this may not sound like much but when your exercising in the southeastern Texas heat, you might as well bring a bar of soap, cause your going to get wet!
After my bath in the park, I made a dieters worst mistake. I went to Walmart while hungry enough to fight a bear for the last box of Twinkies.
And low and behold I noticed something I had never really noticed after several trips into this store. They have a McDonald's right there at the front door. That's convienient...
Well I resisted and went and did my shopping and stuck to my list, which when your hungry is a feat of superhuman strength.
As I was headed for the door my basket kicked into autopilot and headed for McDonald's. I put up a good fight, but in the end I aquiesed and 7 chicken nuggets later (sawyer ate the other 3), a small order of fries, and a sweet tea later we rolled out into the syrupy heat and headed home.
That's why I'm taking baby steps. I'm still going to have those times when I bail out off the wagon, but tomorrow ill be running to catch back up and jump back on with all the other health nuts. Oh forget that, I'm going to jump on the wagon where people enjoy good food, but in moderation and then go run their butt off to feel better. I'm all for healthy food and I love most of it, but I'm all for a huge slice of pepperoni pizza once in a while. I think people who try totally deprive themselves of those little joys (well they are to me), are shooting themselves in the proverbial foot.
MODERATION is the key word of the day. It's a word that I have to constantly keep at the forefront of my brain.
Tomorrow I will be putting up some links to a few detox drinks that are pretty tasty and have seemed to make me feel better. Oh a another side affect is they seem to curb my appetite both for regular food and sweets. Big plus!
Until tomorrow!
